“Today I see what I didn’t do because from a side and within years lookers-on see more than players. I dream that the new politicians will do this and I will help them”

These words are dated by 2001, and today are relevant as ever. They were taken from the author’s thoughts dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the proclamation of independence of our state, in which the first President of independent Ukraine reflects on the process of formation of the national identity. That time he held high the bayonet on the barricades of the political struggle, but today he has not put down arms. On January, 10, Leonid Kravchuk has reached the age of eighty.
