Blocked by barricades

After protesters were beaten by the “Berkut” on Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square on the night of 29 to 30 November and after following clashes with law enforcement peaceful and joyful students were replaced by mostly older men who required responsibility of authority for whom surrender is unacceptable.

The Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Defense Volodymyr Lytvyn considers that the Verkhovna Rada should not only hear the report of the General Prosecutor’s Office of investigation of the protesters beating on Maydan Nezalezhnosti Square on the night of 29 to 30 November and to give evaluation of the events in the capital but to create the delegations with representatives of the Verkhovna Rada for the negotiations with Russia and the European Union. In particular, we should agree with the European colleagues on visa-free regime starting in 2014. And the Parliament should adopt all necessary bills that were caused by commitments to the EU. In addition, Volodymyr Lytvyn noted that there are no power proposals in response to the proposals of three factions. He also believes that the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych should better form a new government.
