Higgs Boson helps to clarify the structure of our world

“If you discover the Higgs boson, we will understand the plan of God” - Nobel laureate Academician Vitaliy Ginzburg gave such importance to the experimental confirmation of the existence of fundamental particles. And it’s happened recently! So this year Nobel Prize in Physics was give to two famous European theoretical physicists - Peter Higgs British and Belgian François Engler who predicted the existence of the Higgs boson. According to the decision of the Nobel Committee, the prize was given “for the discovery of a theoretical mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of the masses of subatomic particles, which was recently confirmed by the discovery of the supposed fundamental particle using experiments at the Large Hadron Collider”. In other words, these scientists basing on new ideas about the interaction between different physical fields explained why different elementary particles have different masses.
