Marko Vovchok: capricious canvas of love

On the 10th of December, 180 years ago, the author of “Folk tales” was born

“You are my holy star! You are my young force!” – with these words genius Taras Shevchenko in his latter days spoke to young Maria who unexpectedly for all took not a noble (as for a noblewoman) masculine pseudonym. She was Vilinska, after the first marriage became Markovych, after the second – Lobach-Zhuchenko, and in Ukrainian (and world!) literature entered as Marko Vovchok.
