he expressed his position regarding the Law of Ukraine on the principles of the state language policy and some suggestions how to avoid possible negative consequences of its introduction

On June, 5, 2012 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the draft law of Ukraine on the principles of the state language policy. On July, 3, 2012 an affirmative vote for this law took place.
“Regulation violations and atmosphere, that accompanied this voting, actually, as well as the voting for the law itself, entailed a considerable resonance, caused ambiguous, mostly negative reaction in the society. At the same time the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the extraordinary session on July, 30, 2012 supported none of four draft decrees (article 48 of the Regulation) in relation to the abolition of the decision of the Verkhovna Rada on passing this law. The Verkhovna Rada also declined all propositions on the removal of inaccuracies and obvious inconsistencies between its positions in the text of the law brought by the Head of the Verkhovna Rada (article 131 of the Regulation). These propositions would allow to eliminate the most problematic moments and to settle a problem to the great extent”, — the head of the parliament marks.
