Institute of Presidency in Ukraine as an object of the constitutional process

The formation of an effective and responsible presidential power in Ukraine for several years has been an actual subject of scientific research and the factor of social and political life. The significance of head of state figure in transitional societies can be hardly overestimated. Indeed, on the one hand, an irreversible and required principal of progressive democratic transition depend on his will and competence depend largely. On the other hand, that person, who is endowed with considerable powers for a fixed term, may be the main source of authoritarian risks - real and imaginary. Therefore, during the transition from any form of autocracy to the representative governance the problem of determination of the constitutional status of the head of a state occupies a special place in the regulatory framework of state-building.
