Pushkin: rarity in Kudryvskiy

Famous Kyiv antiquarian and art critic Yakiv Berdychevskiy bartered 15 cigarettes for a book “Operative Surgery” which was presented to Napoleon by his doctor Sabatier. Exactly this edition became one of the most valuable rarities of the capital Museum of Oleksandr Serhiyovych Pushkin (June, 6, 1799 – February, 10, 1837). It was opened in May, 1999 – on the eve of the celebrations of the bicentenary from the poet’s birthday. The basis of exhibition was a very rich private collection of abovementioned Yakiv Berdychevskiy which he, before leaving for Germany, presented to the city.
With only one condition: to create the museum of Pushkin.
