Peculiar features of the Ukrainian society in the XX century

Ukraine, without regard to its originality, was formed as a country with its people, history and mentality and as a part of the Russian empire. Ukrainian history can be hardly separated from its history. The latest used to influence and still influences on the history of Ukraine. To tell the truth, the specific feature of Ukraine is in that it experienced different forms of social transformations during 1917-1920 (Ukrainian National Republic (UNR), Hetmanshchyna, Otamanshchyna, Dyrectoriya), and, finally, it chose socialistic transformations.
