Summit of NATO in Brussels – and what is the benefit for Ukraine?

On December, 2, after the first day of the meeting of the Council of North-Atlantic alliance in Brussels had been finished, the minister for foreign affairs of the countries – the members of the NATO - decided to strengthen the collaboration with Ukraine and Georgia and not to grant them the Membership Action Plan. Such announcement was made by the General Secretary of the NATO Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, who marked that the minister for foreign affairs of the countries — the members of the alliance - had made two key decisions:

 

all elements of previous decisions of the NATO, in particular the Bucharest summit in relation to the future membership of Ukraine and Georgia, do not lose action.
