“Ukrainian bandages”

More than a year ago, when the armed conflict with the Pro-Russian militants on the East of the country started, the scientists of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine concentrated their attention on their developments of double-duty, and those of them, which were of special need for our warriors, were made and passed on volunteer principles to the ATO zone. Battle actions testified that the amount of losses of human lives far not in the last turn depended on the timely providing of the medical emergency treatment to the servicemen in the field environment. How to provide the good timing of this treatment? This issue became one of actual directions of scientific research. We already have the results. R. E. Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology, NAS of Ukraine, in July last year passed to the injured fighters the carbon sorbing bandages which reduce the blood loss and cause quick cicatrization of wounds. L. V. Pysarzhevskyi Institute of the Physical Chemistry developed over 30 types of chemical hemostatics to stop critical bleeding – “KROVOSPAS”. And recently the research workers from Institute of Physics, NAS of Ukraine, offered one more development – bandaging materials on the basis of the radiation sewn together hydrogels, intended for the treatment of wounds and burns. Head of laboratory of radiation technologies of Institute of Physics, Doctor of physic-mathematical sciences Volodymyr NEYMASH tells about this development with the working name “Ukrainian bandages”, which are worth being in every medicine box of a fighter.
