Constitutional Reform in Ukraine: Background, Purpose and Methods for Implementation

Issues connected with the emergence and consolidation of constitutionalism in the Ukrainian state are explored. Particular attention is paid to the goals and methods for implementation of the national constitutional reform. Based on determination of the main stages of constitutional process in Ukraine, the analysis of the relevant legislation and its comparison with the developments of the European states is made. By reviewing basic provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine and determining possibilities to amend them, the recommendations for constitutional reform which would not oppose the existing constitutional order in the state are given.
