Favouritism and Cronyism as the Main Criteria for Personnel Selection of Political and Administrative Elite in Ukraine

The problem of usage of favouritism, nepotism and cronyism in the process of formation of political and administrative elite in Ukraine is highlighted. It is presented theoretical material which contains information on the interpretation of definitions of ‘favouritism’, ‘nepotism’, and ‘cronyism’, as well as the ruling elite models. The main scientific approaches concerning usefulness of the personnel selection based on family, close or other relations are reviewed. It is concluded on the necessity to form political and administrative elite which defends the national idea and determined current trends to select candidates for the posts in the highest echelons of power in Ukraine.
