Mayor of Vinnytsya Volodymyr Groysman is Convinced –“Main Criterion of Quality of Government is Level of Quality of Citizens’ Life”

- We have just undergone presidential elections. I’m sure one of important conclusions of these elections, which have been made by the majority of voters, should be made by the majority of our politicians: Ukraine requires system reforms the carrying out of which can not been postponed till tomorrow.

Quality of life as a goal and system practical steps of government on the way to the implementation of desirable reforms require the third component part. Leading subject of implementation of these reforms has to be local self-government which, in its turn, requires substantial changes. To my point of view, reforming of local self-government is the basic bases of complex of changes which we all are waiting for. And their main principle has to be the level of quality life as a criterion of quality of government.

In conclusion, I would like to give one more argument in the favour of this thesis and cite the words of Klause Clip, general secretary of the Association of European Regions, which were said during his visit to Ukraine in 2008: “In order to have successful development of the country, one should start with the development of cities and regions…Giving more power to regions will contribute to the unification of the country”
