Project of Single Economic Space: Russian and Ukrainian Vision

Public start of the project of the Single Economic Space took place on February, 23, 2003 in Moscow, when the presidents of Ukraine, Byelorussia, Russia and Kazakhstan agreed to prepare the agreement on creation of the SES till September, 2003 and signed the proper general statement.
Already after February agreements on realization of the project of the SES, which gave hope to Moscow on more active indrawing of Ukraine in reintegration processes, Putin in his regular message to Federal Assembly from May, 16, 2003 marks clearly: “We examine space of the CIS as a sphere of our strategic interests. We also conclude that Russia is the zone of national interests for the countries of the Commonwealth.”
